Come and have a pleasant stay in Rauma

Rauma is known for Old Rauma, its old town and lovely wooden houses. Old Rauma is well worth visiting. The section of town with wooden buildings is unusually large and intact. The town plan of Old Rauma differs from the standard grid plan. It has narrow, winding streets and unconventional plots for housing. Located in the centre of Old Rauma is the picturesque marketplace, which also serves as the centre for the whole town of Rauma. In summer, the marketplace has many stalls selling fresh local products: fish, berries and vegetables from the surrounding Satakunta region. Rauma’s shops are also concentrated near the marketplace. In all, there are nearly two hundred different shops.

Rauma Lace Week and the Night of Black Lace

The town’s best known event is Rauma Lace Week, held every summer. It’s worth coming to Lace Week even from further away, and Hotel Cumulus Rauma is a welcoming place to stay. The wide range of events has something to offer everyone. The Lace Week programme features various concerts and exhibitions. One Lace Week tradition is the ice hockey tournament with at least Rauman Lukko, Porin Ässät and Turun Palloseura, all professional league teams, as contestants. The week culminates in the Night of Black Lace with its authentic market atmosphere alongside the traditional exhibitions and performances.
